The shape of these artificial is as innovative as it is ingenious. Instead of the blade, which as we well know causes harmful friction during the launch phase, the Waxwing is equipped with two "fins", an upper and a lower one, mounted near the head, which give it aerodynamics in flight and at the same time a whole series of movements typical of lures with a paddle. In addition to this, the particular arrangement of the fins allows this artificial WTD type movements to be performed both on the surface and in the very first layers of water.

La forma di questi artificiali è tanto innovativa quanto geniale. Al posto della paletta, che come ben sappiamo offre dannosi attriti in fase di lancio, il Waxwing è dotato di due "pinne", una superiore ed una inferiore, montate in prossimità della testa, che gli confericono aereodinamicità in volo e nel contempo tutta una serie di movimenti tipici di artificiali con paletta. Oltre a questo, la particolare disposizione delle pinne consente a questo artificiali movimenti tipo WTD da proprorre sia in superficie che nei primissimi strati d'acqua.
